The Arcane Charmers - Arcane

Andrea Zingone known as the man behind Hoxygen, now a house project, has released his first album under the The Arcane Charmers alias, his italodance alias. Just entitled “Arcane” it is actually the third album from Zingone although the first used the Hoxygen alias, even so all three are the typical harder italodance style which we are pretty familiar with by now. Being one of the most active producers in 2012 one can only say that ending the year by releasing this album indeed seems fitting.

The album includes 16 tracks some of them completely new and some of them released before on singles and compilations, you can certainly say that the albums sums up the period from autumn 2011 to autumn 2012.

The general style is the sort of harder italodance sound also known from the previous Hoxygen album but with one track in between being slowstyle: “Look Over You”. I can’t say that I really dislike any of the tracks of the album, in contrast to the previous album which did have a few misses. Besides tracks that were released prior to the release of this album some of the new productions such as “Everything” or “This is what you do” it includes a number of the best productions of 2012 and some new versions. Worth to mention are the Hessencia remixes, the new version of “The witch is looking”, the new version of Obsession entitled “My new obsession” and of course “Only Smoke”. Most fittingly to describe this album musically is probably the intro “Italodance will never die”. It’s hard to argue with that.

The Arcane Charmers – Arcane is definitely the best album and probably also the best italo release of 2012. Zingone has his own way of combining synthesizers, vocoders and the typical hard italo bass that just can’t be beaten. I probably don’t have to tell you that you should buy this album as all reason points to you owning it already, but if that’s not the case please do yourself the favor of investing in this piece of italo history. Italodance will never die!
