What are some good headphones?

Hey

I need new headphones. I'm thinking of getting some quality ones this time that doesn't break after 1 year. They will be used mainly for listening but I also produce occasionally.

Any recommendations? What do you use?

I used to have a pair of these for listening to my iPod, pretty good just for that, but for producing also I would reccomend these, mine lasted about 5 years with fairly regular use.

Unless you want to go really big and spend a lot of money you should look into a pair of Sennheiser's, especially the HD 500 series or above: http://www.sennheiser.com/sennheiser/home_en.nsf/root/private_headphones_audiophile-headphones

If you do actually want to sell your soul for a pair of divine headphones look into Grado: http://www.gradolabs.com/frameset_main.htm
And if you buy a pair of Grado you obviously wouldn't just connect them at the back of your computer (you don't give your dog foie gras for lunch either Wink) you buy a decent headphone-amp: http://www.whathifi.com/Review/Beyerdynamic-A1/

Btw. Sony is a producer of electronics, Grado and Sennheiser produce headphones, need I say more Smile

I went with these AKG K 540: http://se.akg.com/akg-produkter-detail-se/k540blk.html

I need another pair also, but I'll see if there are good for everyday listening.

BTW, all Sennheisers are ugly as hell. Smile

I don't agree, like sennheiser better than AKG..

Btw. if you go for AKG you do need a headphone amp, they sound bad without (at least if not connected to a hifi stereo)

Don't know much about DJ headphones, but I think the sound is optimized for a loud background and therefore not as suitable for normal listening.
