Italodance in clubs/discoteks

Hey all. I've got something on my mind I really want to tell/ask you...

Italodance is a real passion for me. There is some interest in other music styles (like trance, hardstyle, some pop) but nothing beats italodance. It's really my kind of music, no doubt! I've got a great italodance collection and all, but I'm 27 now and I realized something. Watching video's of Italodance in clubs/discoteks in Italy and Spain made me realize I WANT THAT SO BADLY! Let's say I'm going on vacation in Italy or Spain...where should I go??? Is italodance still common in clubs/discoteks? Or am I too late? Sad

I'm on a breakpoint of my life and I got the feeling I need to do this, before it's too late. I hope I can get some friend(s) to join as well, but it's not like I have close friends who are into italodance.

The glorious days, where you could hear Gigi, Gabry, Molinaro, DJ Lhasa, Provenzano on the same night, are definitely over. There are some big events during the year in Italy, however, for instance Dance Generation, Halloween and Capodanno with Gigi (New year) - if you're just into the Gigi gang he/they play all year in various clubs in Northern Italy the TOPDJ dance team might also spin a few italo tracks on a normal night in their club in Cuneo. I don't think you will find much italo in Spain. Oh and did I mention SHP vol.2 - you are very welcome here whenever that is Wink

I know a friend of Heinz is playing Gigi sometimes at a disco in Spain Laughing out loud

In Italy ...there's HEROES OF ITALY coming up ..but don't know how much italo there will be there.

Then there is DJ MAXWELL he is resident at some club in Italy, and LUCA NOISE plays somtimes too!

No doubt New years eve is the best time at year for italo/lento events in Italy Tongue

...else there's always party with the italoDanes Grin Wink we don't need a discotek, it's us that makes the party! Grin Wink (Unforgettable parties Laughing out loud)

Well, Delta, In Spain there were two points where italodance was a success, Galicia and Cataluña.Both are in the north of spain, but galicia is in the west side, and cataluña in the east (1000 km from site to site).

Also in the rest of northern Spain italodance was a success, but on a smaller number of nightclubs, because other similar styles reigned at that time.

Currently there are few clubs and DJs to keep the legacy of pure italo. The most common is that a few times a year do remember festivals. DJs more in love with this style of music always seem to put some italo song, but can not put a lot because people do not respond well, and the clubs become empty.

One of the problems of playing this music too, is that people who start clubbing today do not know the style and music is boring for them, because what is fashionable is the electro/house.

Summarizing, the current best options in Spain are:

Discoteca Queen (galicia): make the best dance party of spain on its anniversary. In the month of may, they take around 5 dance artists in the same day.For example in 2011 were Danijay, Prezioso and Marvin, Vengaboys, Kate Ryan, Gabry Ponte and Eiffel 65, and Scooter. In 2009 were Cascada, Gigi d'Agostino, Juan Magán, Guru Josh, and Tiësto.
Well, not everything is pure italo or dance, but it is infinitely better than you can see anywhere else. The club is one of the best in Spain.

Discoteca Big Ben (catalonia): Rarely they make a remember dance festival, and they bring some famous artists.Actually they often bring Gigi.Within 5 weeks I'll be there dancing lento violento with Gigi as dj.

Discoteca Millenium (catalonia):Not know much about this club, because I do not know it.I think CFE can tell you more about this club. Here no longer reigns italodance, although I suppose that something will continue be playing.

Discoteca Pachá La Pineda (catalonia):Same to say than Big Ben.There are rumors that Gabry Ponte will go for a special remember italo session next april. The club is pretty nice.

Obviously italo is going definitely down in Italy.
Clubs stopped playing it. I worked all summer in Altromondo Studios one of the biggest clubs, specially when it comes to italodance.. they made an italo night once a week..and..sadly these were the lowest nights of summer..owner wasn't really happy about it. We had Prezioso, Snap, Paps'n'skar, lhasa, and so many others I cant remember. But even with these names, the nights were short, and not that much crowded.

BUT this year, another club went up it's LA BOMBONERA in Reggio Emilia, and they have italo dance EVERY WEEK, ALL YEAR LONG ! It's DJ Cerla's resident club, and they had prezioso, basshunter, italobrothers, gabry ponte, eiffel65, fargetta etc... so if you want a great italo night, go there, or wait for summer and come in the Altromondo !

Sure, like we've talked about previous years, there are just two problems:
1. Either we decide a date now without knowing if there will actually be any events at that time.
2. Or we wait until summer and see what comes up with the likely possibility of much less people willing to go because of the short notice.

OR we could rent a house and have our own party Wink (SHP vol.2 psst!)

it's a little hard for me tell in english, what bombonera is, but i try:

from 23.30 to 1.00 the music is easy, but in good way:
in the beginning there is some pop from 90ies and early 2000 (Britney, J-Lo, Too Much Of Heaven) then the bpm goes up whis a mix of dance 90ies & early 2000 and some of the greatest hits of the moment, you can listen song like: Tamperer - Feel It, Kim Lucas - All I Really Want (E65 Remix), Aqua - Barbie Girl, Alcazar - Crying At The Discoteque, Dear - Talk To Me, Neja - Restless , Nina - I'm So Excited...

Then normally starts Cerla from 1.00 to 3.00 (approximately): he begin with his mash-up betwenn a dance classic and a new song (Anthem #2 + Levels - 1 2 Polizei + Simon From Deep Divas - Got To Get + Shinig Star - Bla Bla Bla + Love Sex American Express) and some classic like Up&Donw, Let Me Stay, Blue, Tell Me Why, Crime Of Passion and before 2.00 and have already climbed to 140 bpm with song and continues until the end with a mix of hands up and italodance songs like Geordie, Danza Delle Streghe, Stamp On The Gound, All The Things She Said (hands-up), Cosa Resterà, Tu Vivi Nell'Aria, Le Louvre, I Fiori Di Lillà (Ponte Remix), Giulia, Ritual Tibetan, Super, Beacuse I Love You, Dreamland, Mary, Another Way, We Will Rock You (Ponte Rmx) , Aycan-Lambada, Alla Console, Calabria, Be My Girl, Will Be One, Love Lasts Forever, Komodo, Boten Anna, Basslover United - Narcotic, All I Ever Wanted...

From 3.00 to 3.40 back to commercial music of the moment, just to relax a little bit xD and from 3.40 to 4.20 circa Cerla back on the console and play an Hard-Dance dj set (with hard-dance, hands-up, hardstyle (eary & nu) songs).

in practice it is very maranza night that pleases everyone, both those who want more commercial music is who is a fan of dear old Italian.

There are some videos:

Yo !

Well, Cillo said everything about it ! We actually met together there, when I went to do a video for the opening of the club in October ! They're having a lot of guesses, and the party is really crazy !!!
Simone, the art director is fantastic and really loves the people from the club and work a lot to keep italo and live and keep the party pumping !
Of course Cerla behind the deck is a huge + and..Well it's just crazy, I really hope to come back there soon !!
